If you have taken the class and you are at home practicing don't get discouraged, instead go back to the basics. It has been a couple of weeks since Memhis (my first class) and over the past couple of days of practice my throw has been a hot mess. No other way to describe it, and my frustration level was high. Took my own advice and started to use the dice gripper again (that thing you use to help you position your fingers for picking up the dice). A couple of throws later things were back on track. We all can't be Dominator (or any of the other very talented instuctors/mentors) at the start.
Basics, it's a good thing.

going back to basics and breaking your toss into segments when things ar not going right in practice is so true Fuzzy!
Take the throw back to basics, i.e. "the Ted Williams style"
Dominator

Let me add one thing and it will be in a question.
After you got home from class how many hours did you just work on your grip or did you just practice your toss.
Please everyone, it all starts with the GRIP, practice it everyday.
Practice the grip, repeat after me, Practice the grip.
This is a basic, where it all starts.

Fuzzy, a great post. The basics is where it all starts.
In football it is all about blocking and tackling. It is wonderful to be a great passer, a great runner, or a great pass interceptor on defense, but if there is no good blocking and tackling you have nothing. So practice the basics. As Dom says break it down. As Finesse says it all starts with the grip--the dice in your hands is the only time you have 100% control of the dice.
When I played basketball in high school the coach always had us take a good warm up shooting which was followed with all sorts of drills to instill the basics--you see a trend here? Then and only then we might scrimmage which was where the fun was. The drills were every day for three years and always first. I hated these drills but I did them. It is the same with craps. Hope to see you in the casinos soon.
Thank you for bringing this up.
