I was amazed how quickly I was making money doing this. This may help you guy's but read all the way through: I just played twice in Indiana. I set for the 3 V on the come outs. Then throw the hard way set only until the point is hit. I was getting 6's or 8's for the come out and nailing them with the hard way set. I am not advanced enough to continually throw the 3 V but getting there soon. WHAT I USED TO DO BEFORE: place a 6 and 8 for $12, with $10 on the pass and double odds. HERE IS THE BENEFIT: If on the come out or throw the 3V and my pt. is 6 or 8 now I have only $12 on the 6 or 8 with the $10 on the pass with double odds. Think about it. I have LESS money at risk with a higher probability of hitting my point. In other words I have only $42 at risk instead of my normal $54 along with a higher ability to hit my point. I hope this makes sense and I hope it helps.

Or you could just not take odds on your pass line bet if you are not confident that you will hit it, thereby not risking an additional $20. You will be increasing the house edge, but its bankroll management.

I'm not sure I understand how switching sets is helping you "along with a higher ability to hit my point"?

OK, my response is actually going to go back to what Pit Boss spoke of in his new thread on Tilt. So I understand that you are using the 3V to try to establish a point of 6 or 8 with a set that if you hit primary numbers the 6 or 8 will show.

So what happens if you don't establish that point a few throws in a row? Will you go on tilt? Maybe.

People who use a point cycle set on the comeout instead of a the all 7's set are doing that because if the throw the dice the same way each time they will repeat numbers and that is what this game is all about.

So here is my point and suggestion, if you don't want to use the all 7's set on the comeout ....and that is OK...then why switch the set? I think I know your answer, at least I hope so, .... the hardway set protects you against the 7 better than any other set. So, either use the 3V through out the throw or the hardway set through out the throw.

Now here is the big BUT .... if this seems to work for you, continue with it. The mental aspect of this game is so important and if mentally you feel more comfortable doing what you are doing, continue with it.

My suggestion above is just the reasoning in using a point cycle set instead of the all 7's set on the comeout

I would add this: If you are using a 7 set on the come out, and you're doing team play, be sure your buddies know that they are come betting at their own risk!

I know that this is a nice thing to do, and I guess I am not that nice in that I expect the people that I am playing to see what I am doing as far as using a 7 set on the comeout. When I have the dice and it is MY MONEY on the table, I don't care about other people's money. I am the general at the table when I got the dice. The felt is my territory and I will attack the enemy, the casino, any way I wish without worrying about others.

Remember it is your money on the table and I want everyone to believe that they are in charge at that point. You should have a game plan for your throw and do what you wish to do. Your thoughts should be only on your throw and your money and not on anyone else

I guess I'm not far enough along to understand, why after I have practiced and practiced one way, would I change my set ? I can't get the one I have correct. I believe it will be a long time before I would have confidence to change the set that I'm still attempting to become consistent with. I guess this is something to look forward to. Ha

Have you started to log your rolls into Smart Craps? I would not be changing sets after points are made since it will take your mind out of the zone. If you are trying to capture the point of 6 or 8 on the come out to save money or risk exposure, this is adding too much pressure on yourself. Smart Craps will provide you with an optimal dice set that you should stick with throughout. Good luck and keep up the great posts.

Tommy, I know that Rose and I use only the hard way set. Like you we see no reason to change. We are successful with this set. We don't even change for the come out roll whether out first roll or a come out after a point is made. We do this for 2 reasons.

First, although we know your have a 2 to 1 advantage on the come out roll, why try and win a $5 or $10 pass line bet. We want to set a new point as soon as possible. We don't set for the 7. We would rather get a point set so that we can take odds where the money is. This is something we like to do. It is our choice and works for us.

Secondly, we use come betting so don't want our come bets to come down. It would not make sense to set for the seven when we might have 3 or more come bets on the table. Even if we have only place bets (not working) on a come out roll after making a point, we would still not set for the 7 as a courtesy to other players who may be come betting. Again this is simply something that we do. As in number 1 we want to establish a new pass line bet and get odds on it.

If and only if, if we have made several points to the fire bet (which I don't bet but Rose sometimes does) I will set for a specific number to help Rose and others, but only on the come out roll. If I set a number I haven't made, then it is back to the hard way set and if it hits it hits.

There are others who will disagree with me, but we are in the game for the long run and avoiding the 7.
