We arrived shortly before the table opened last Wednesday at 7pm. βLβ was at SR2. JohnC1 stepped up to SR1. βAβ settled in at SL1. I finished off our quartet at SL2. (I am uncertain what handle βAβ uses on the forum so I am calling him βA.β βLβ said he let his forum membership lapse, but said he is going to renew.) Greetings and banter was exchanged as the box and stick counted the bank. Dice were inspected. The stick moved the plexiglass cover under the table. The box set the table to a $10 minimum. We bought in and presented our player cards. It was then time to begin.
The stick brought the dice to βL.β βLβ uses a 3V/11 set on the come out instead of the traditional 3V set. With the traditional 3V set as you rotate the pair of dice you see 33-51-44-26. With the 3V/11 set you see 33-21-44-56. We all put out a Passline bet. βLβ and JohnC1 add an Any Crap bet. βLβ establishes a point of 9. Next roll the 9 comes right back. He next rolls an 8 on the come out. 8 comes right back the next roll. A very good start.
βLβ then did what he likes to do, throw craps on the come out roll. I think he threw three in a row. I bailed on the Passline after the first one, content with my place bets. βLβ continued to throw and throw and throw. He made point after point with plenty of box numbers mixed in. After the first stick change I reconstructed the number of throws based on my place bet progression. I checked with βAβ for the number of horn numbers thrown. I think I shorted βLβ on that. And then I kept counting his rolls.
More people came to the table. Two guys with accents set up at the left end of the table. Only one was betting. He was setting his passline bet past the corner almost in front of me. He knew what was going on. The center was getting heavy action. βLβ was hitting hardways. I was even throwing out hardways bets for βLβ because he was hitting my 8 place bet so often. (He threw 11 non come out 8s.) He was hitting craps on the comeouts. The dealers were taking charge chastising late betters and calling βno betβ to drive the message home.
But as always happens, the Devil finally arrived. βLβ held the dice for 42 minutes and I had counted a 40 roll. There was applause and cheers. One of the dealers said βIf you didnβt make money on that roll you shouldnβt be playing craps.β
As the dealers cleaned up the table someone comes over and greets βAβ and myself by name. I donβt recognize him. He goes back to SR3 where he had set himself up. I turned to βAβ and ask who it was. He said it was βH.β βHβ is a follower. He has read many books and knows what we do. And knows many of us very well apparently. He knows Golden Touch but does not follow our particular school.
The dice then moved to JohnC1 who had a good moneymaker I estimate in the high teens. βAβ had a short roll. I had a point 7 out.
The dice then move to the others at the table. Some who had seen βLβ shoot passed the dice. Others took there own turn.
When the dice got to βHβ he was going to shoot. As is our custom, if we are standing at SR1 or SL1 and another of our ilk is at SR2 or SL2, we stepped back from SR1 and SL1 to give the other shooter plenty of room. βHβ had apparently talked with βLβ and JohnC1. βHβ slid over from SR3 to SR1 to shoot. I could not be certain but I think he was setting a standard 3V. When he threw the dice he had his head down by the chip rail. It was all kinda weird. βHβ was about 5 or 6 rolls into his hand when the box asked him to please step back to where his Passline bet was and shoot from there. βHβ still slid up to SR1. After another three rolls from SR1 the box stopped the stick from giving the dice to βHβ and told βHβ that he had to shoot the dice from his Passline bet. βHβ stepped back to SR3. He got the dice and set them. He stood there for about a minute and then passed the dice. This caused some disruption at the table because this was in the middle of a point cycle. The box said that βLβ would finish βHββs turn with the dice and then βLβ would have his own turn.
So βLβ got the dice and proceeded to make money for us from the βHβ hand. He then made us some money from his own hand. This kinda threw me off so I wasnβt keeping track of the number of throws but I know I made money.
JohnC1 then had another nice moneymaker. βAβ rolled a hand I broke even on. I then had my best hand of the night. It was short but sweet. I established a point of 5. I then rolled 6, 8, 8, 6, 8, 6, seven out. So an 8 roll long hand but a moneymaker.
The dice make their way around the table back to βL.β I donβt remember all the details but it was quite the whirlwind. By the time the chips had settled and the Devil arrived I looked down at the chips I was using to keep track of the rolls. One green, three reds and two whites; βLβ had a hand of 42.
We all stayed for 2 more full rounds. βLβ next had a hand of 26. His final hand was a 13. βLβ was the star that night. Two hands of 40 or more was just fantastic.
JohnC1 gets kudos also. I pretty certain I made money each of the 5 times he had the dice. I was awful. I think I had a total of one point made the 5 times I had the dice and 2 were point-sevens.
That is one of the great things about being at the table as a group. One person being zoned in can carry the table.

Thanks for writing up our "Winning Wednesday" adventure. I would rather roll with the Wednesday crew than anywhere else in the country. We always have a great time and the mentoring / help I received over the last year has improved my shot immensely. Looking forward to tomorrow.
