First of all I have to say it is really great to be able to get together with real GTC rollers. Unfortunately I got to Vegas late Wednesday and missed TX's great rolls but got to roll with Griz on early Friday morning. I got to warm up on the home field Thursday night with a few rolls in the twenties, just miss the small, tall and all twice- one of my vices. Met the Griz at 6:00 Friday morning and started rolling. After a few short warm up rolls we took a break and re-grouped. I had a couple of rolls that got just to the point of being something with enough money on the table to make things happen and 7'ed out. Griz had a few short rolls that didn't get air and then things CHANGED! He started to roll and roll. I got caught in the moment and of course didn't keep track of the count but it must have been at least in the mid forties. He was cool, calm and collected as things got crazy and it took forever to get the dice back due to the pay offs and new bets hitting the table. Skeptical Cowboys, a Texas Fireman, and a big gambler from out East all joined in the cheering section in disbelief as the numbers were getting bombed. Thanks Griz for the great time, hope we can roll together soon. And Senator hope you had some good rolling. I have been sick with the sinus flu bug this week and left Vegas after the morning show. It just doesn't get much better then leaving town with more money than you arrived with.

Needless to say the new morning brough a new found mission to bang the tables.
Up early (zero-dark thirty to be exact) and some mild practice tosses in the room. Then breakfast and off to the usual haunt. This place is "home" to me, so comfort factor is a big plus.
Great pleasure to meet Richard, another Michigander (via Cali), love it when we get GTC'rs at the table that all follow The Commandments and polite & tip the crew. Another reason why we are usually welcomed back IMHO.
Yep, early rolls were middlings, nothing really great, Richard helped with some nice tosses.
Once we broke for a coffee break to re-group, I tried to channel AlamoTX's confidence and wanted another session.
Quickly hit a few points and worked on keeping the focus, no more small talk and side chatter, just focused on the dice mid-table until the stick brought them back to me. Then, focus on GRIP and landing zone and let a gentle toss roll from the finger tips. Amazing that the sevens that did appear were on the come-out rolls and did not set for them (sorry for all those Small/Tall/All bettors!). As Tex has said many times, the best rolls are not just the technical but the lucky ones too!

As the roll went into it's late part, the table was full and payouts came slow, lot of middle bets and lots of hardway payouts. Damn East Coast Whale put on thousands on the layout at any given roll, so they had to double check those payouts. His money, not mine, so paid zero attention. Now the one problem that creeped up was the landing zone... so many damn chips, had to bring in the dice even gentler to land behind or between the stacks. When the devil did show, it was a small bounce off a chip stack.
Great way to finish the trip with additional 401-G deposit! Rode out the bad stretch, managed the money, retooled the problem and got back to basics. Riding the storm out in Vegas!
Great rolling with you AlamoTX and RichardM! We'll do this again, I'm sure.

My only suggestion would be that next time we string the long rolls together back to back, while we're all at the same place and BRING DOWN THE HOUSE! It was fun.

Griz,
Were you using the hardway set or some other.
Were the tables hard, soft or in between.
Were they 12 footers or some other.
Were position were you shooting from?

Hardway set, 12 ft table, mixed table/Goldilocks type... Not too hard, not too soft.
Had the SL2 position but moved to 1 1/2 to roll, which overall probably helped me do better than my early sessions at SL1. Elongated the toss.

I too find that SL1.5 is a good shooting position. I feel the elongation allows for better targeting a spot on the table.
